Are you looking for a rewarding novel for the whole class to read? Freak the Mighty is a great novel to read with your students. It is about a strong friendship that develops with their life struggles. Students will be able to connect to some events that happen within the novel and explore common themes such as empathy. You can find some great read alouds on YouTube to incorporate into your daily readings. My kids love the read aloud! I usually have my students read in groups one day and we listen to the audio on another day. The chapters are really short, so we read two chapters at a time.
